This song was created after my experience with family constellations and studying the work of family therapy pioneer Virginia Satir. During family constellations or Satir workshops, tension builds when people release deep trauma into the world. The pain that was hidden makes its way to the surface and is finally recognized; there are quick emotional shifts in the person who is the centerpiece of the workshop and their pressure builds up until there’s finally a letting go, a respite, and the energy flows out where it was blocked before. During that process the onlookers are actively participating, and that’s what the band is doing. This is an experience we are living together as a group - not necessarily a pleasant experience, as change is not generally perceived as something easy or comfortable. Through negotiating these quickly shifting musical elements, we prepare ourselves to be comfortable with discomfort; to gracefully negotiate the many changing parameters that life presents to us every day. My wish is for this song to embrace the tumultuous unknowns that existence constantly presents to us.

They are somewhere outside going for a walk and are openly and sometimes emotionally talking to each other. Fortunately they've recorded this moment for those who are interested. freejazzy
