This song is written in admiration and love for my friend, the vocalist, composer and educator Imani Uzuri. The lyrics are not directed at her, but they would be words of wisdom she could have (and probably has) said. Imani is a person who fully engages the world, living out her understanding and emotions fully, and creating manifesting a vision that reflects her level of engagement with reality. She has taught me many things about the complexity of humans - about intersectionality, about the meaning of life, about a path towards feeling whole and honest.
