This song is dedicated to my unborn children, and all unborn children. While writing that song, I thought of my personal experience with abortion and how important it is to take steps to care for women after abortions, so that we don’t carry additional trauma in our bodies and minds. I also thought of the women who aborted children after being raped or getting pregnant in unhealthy conditions. I realize that there might be an element of loss even when life is conceived during a terrible experience. I wanted to honor that in the song - the fact that a woman can still mourn an unborn child, even though it came from a disempowering experience. I honor the creative power that can make a life even in the most terrible circumstances.

still from the sky
she reaches for
her daughter
while my unborn child
wise child
you came here
sleeping through my womb
you came here
seeping through my
oh my unborn child
oh my unborn child
I love you
no matter where you came from
I love you
no matter who you came from
I love you
