about

Magdalena, far from being a prostitute who elicited the pity of Jesus, is a sexual priestess, and his intimate companion. This song is inspired by the triad of Jesus, Magdalena, and Sar’h. The incoming melody loosely represents an Alap; it’s her presence and power filling up the room. The bass drone is her unflinching determination to charge her Ka body, and yet the melody of the piece symbolizes her sadness as she has to see her beloved die on the cross, while she continues her life on the human plane. This piece was inspired by the book “The Magdalen Manuscript” by Tom Kenyon and Judi Sion. Musically, it was inspired by Rajna Swaminathan, who has taught me so many things over the years.
